Martin Gawenda

Managing Partner

HEISMANN Drehtechnik GmbH

Martin Gawenda is Managing Partner of Heismann Drehtechnik, a German manufacturer of CNC-turned precision components based in Velbert. Founded in 1918, the company has been part of the European security and defence industry for three decades, supplying precision components for ammunition systems from 20 to 155 mm calibre.

Heismann's strength lies where many suppliers reach their limits: scaling precision manufacturing reliably to high volumes. With 30 multi-spindle turning machines, highly automated production and stable, certified processes (ISO 9001, IATF 16949), the company produces around 90 million parts per year at tolerances down to 0.01 mm, and can move from order to delivery within eight weeks.

Since taking over the company in 2020, Martin has further professionalised Heismann through operational excellence and digital transformation, enabling it to manufacture medium-volume batches as efficiently as large series and building a significantly broader customer base. Since 2026 he has also been Managing Partner of Hermann Kemper GmbH & Co. KG. Previously, he held leadership roles in supply chain engineering and production at GE and Baker Hughes, where he drove lean transformation and introduced digital shop floor management. Martin holds a Diplom-Ingenieur degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on production technology from RWTH Aachen University and is certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) by ASCM.
